F.I.R.S.T. Lego League

Our immediate project is the FIRST Lego League.  FIRST (For Inspiration and Recognition of Science and Technology) is a multinational non-profit organization.  FIRST is a highly recognized program with participation from over 20 countries around the world.  The FIRST program is important to the educational community. We are hoping to allow the new generation of Haiti’s youth to participate in a international smarts competition.

The FIRST LEGO League (FLL) is considered the "little league" of the FIRST Robotics Competition.  FLL is the result of a partnership between FIRST and the LEGO Company. FLL extends the FIRST concepts by celebrating science and technology to children aged 9 through 14, utilizing real-world context and hands-on experimentation.

With the use of LEGO® MINDSTORMS^TM Robotics Invention System^TM technology, students can build a robot and compete in a friendly, educational robotics event specifically designed for their age group. Using LEGO bricks and other elements such as sensors, motors, and gears, teams gain hands-on experience in engineering and computer programming principles as they construct and program their robot inventions.
